While I can’t take all of the credit for that huge leap forward, I am proud to say I have been an integral part of the process. I’ve lead and implemented most of our redesign efforts and am constantly working to improve site usability while still providing timely, interactive content.

About five years ago, local advertisers were facing a problem in that they wanted to advertise online but many didn’t have much online presence to have something worth linking their ads to. Our advertising department wanted to design special one-page sites for local advertisers that didn’t already have a dedicated web presence for their company. This was a mock design I did that was used to sell the idea to those advertisers.

Over a hundred WWII veterans sent in their stories via faxes, hand-written letters and emails. I came up with the idea of publishing all of them in a sortable database of downloadable PDFs. It felt like it took about a decade to convert all of the documents, but the response to the project was meaningful and well worth it.
